Donald Martinsen Obituary

Donald Lee Martinsen, 86, passed away peacefully, September 21, 2018, in the Uintah Care Center, in Vernal, Utah.

He was born Feb 1, 1932 in Vernal, Utah to Charles Smith Martinsen and Ada Bell Juanita Wise Martinsen. He had no siblings. Donald graduated in 1950 from Uintah High School, where he participated in track and field, and football.

He married Dorothy Merle Dudley, December 11, 1951, in Jensen, Utah. He was later sealed to her and their sons, April 1965 in the Los Angeles California Temple. Dorothy died October 19, 1999. He married Enola Murray September 21, 2001 in the Vernal Utah Temple.

He and Dorothy have three sons: Raymond R, Dean, and Gary Don.

He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served several years at the Uintah Care Center.

He enjoyed riding ATVs with Enola, and his family. Camping, fishing, boating, and hunting were some of his favorite activities. He caught a 39 pound lake trout in Flaming Gorge Reservoir, which at the time, was the 2nd largest in the state. He prospected, looking for lost gold mines by searching for Spanish symbols.

He served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. He and his family moved to southern California in 1955 where he worked with lath and plaster. The family moved back to Vernal, Utah in 1965. He worked for Phil Martin, Casada Construction and Intermountain Concrete until retiring.

He is survived by: his wife, Enola Murray Martinsen; his sons: Raymond R. (Christine); Dean (Carletta), Gary Don (Vicki) Martinsen, 10 grandchildren, Rachelle Martinsen Acosta, Connie Martinsen Puig, Lea Dawn Martinsen Wickham, Curt Martinsen, Matthew Martinsen, Preston Martinsen, Nathan Martinsen, Quinn Martinsen, Kyle Martinsen, Nick Martinsen, and 29 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. Step children: Randy (Debby) Montgomery, Lori (Vern) Fitchette, and 11 step grandchildren, Nicholas Bo Montgomery, Nathan Montgomery, Amy Montgomery, Jake Montgomery, Zach Montgomery, Heath Montgomery, Wyatt Montgomery, Greg Montgomery, Angie Pola, Michael Fitchette, Emily Fitchette, and 11 step great grandchildren:

Preceded in death by his father, Charles Smith Martinsen, his mother, Ada Bell Juanita Wise Martinsen Langus, his wife, Dorothy Merle Dudley Martinsen, his grandparents, his stepson, Max Montgomery, and step grandson, Brant Montgomery.

Funeral service will be held Friday, Sept 28, 2018, 11 am at the Vernal 9th Ward Chapel, 200 W 250 N. A Viewing will be held Friday 9:30-10:45AM at the chapel. Interment will be in Maeser Cemetery with full military honors provided by American Legion Post 11.
