Early in the morning on December 9, 2018, the windows of heaven opened and welcomed home our angel wife, mother, sister, daughter, grandma and friend, Jeri Helco, age 67. She passed away peacefully after a valiant fight with cancer, surrounded by her family at her home in Maeser, Utah. She was born August 2, 1951 to Dean B. and Donna R. Lewis Reynolds in Vernal, Utah. She lived life to its fullest sharing her love and talents with her countless friends and loved ones. She left a legacy of love, faith, grit, determination, wit, and humility.
She was blessed with a loving husband, Ernest John Helco Jr, whom she married on June 27, 1969 who lovingly cared for her to the end. They were sealed in the Provo temple on Dec 12, 1992 and were proud parents of six wonderful children. If asked, Jeri would say her true love was her family. Her life was filled with family gatherings, birthday parties, Sunday dinners, picnics in the mountains and any other excuse to gather her family around her.
Jeri was a faithful, humble, life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served in many callings over the years, including cub scouts, primary, Young Womens and Relief Society. Her joy was the 7 years she spent working in the temple. Her testimony and love of the Savior was inspiring to all who knew her.
You never saw Jeri without a project in her hands. She was very talented when it came to just about anything handwork related. She loved quilting, sewing, tatting, crocheting, knitting, and cross stitching. Her home was filled with her handiwork as well as her many flowers inside and out, produce from her garden, and smells of cookies from her love of baking.
Her family suspects she will be an angel in a heavenly choir due to her great love of music while on this earth which included the clarinet, guitar, piano, and singing.
Jeri was very active working and blessing lives outside of her home. One of her joys of life was working in many different capacities at Ashley Regional Medical Center. She often commented on the wonderful friendships she gained while working there. She was well-known for her famous cookies and caramel popcorn. She also enjoyed other close friendships in her time in the Quilt Guild. She would often refer to them as the girls and looked forward to their Thursday night gatherings and retreats. She served as the club president for a time.
She was preceded in death by her parents Dean and Donna and her youngest son Darin Paul Helco. She is survived by her husband Ernest John Helco Jr., Mother-in-law Lillian Wall Helco, siblings William D (Beverly) Reynolds and Joyce (LD) Gardiner, and children Robert J (Sarah), James D (Chelene), Mark R (Janet), Dalyn (Chip) Winterton and Kevin B, as well as 19 grandkids, brothers and sisters in-law, many cousins, nieces and nephews.
