Kathleen Hatch Obituary

Kathleen Ann Knowles Hatch passed away after a long battle with illness October 23, 2018, in the Uintah Care Center in Vernal, Utah. She was 68. Kathy was a daughter, sister, mother, friend, and caregiver. She was born March 21, 1950, in Alameda, California to Robert Rulon and Susan Carol Kinney Knowles. She graduated from Shasta High School in Redding, California in 1968. She went on to nursing school and graduated in 1970 as an LPN. She later received additional training as a respiratory therapist.

She married Dennis L. Hatch in the Salt Lake City Temple on September 23, 1970. They moved to Dutch John, Utah where Dennis worked for the Forest Service and Kathy stayed home to raise a family. They had three girls and one boy. In 1980, they moved to Panguitch, Utah where she went back to work as a nurse at Garfield Memorial Hospital. In 1982, they moved to Salmon, Idaho where she worked as a nurse for about 30 years at Steele Memorial Hospital. Dennis and Kathy were divorced in 1990.

Kathy loved being a nurse and devoted most of her life to caring for others. So many people expressed appreciation to her family over the years for her help when they were in the hospital. Her knowledge as a nurse was a great blessing to her children also. She attended all of her grandchildrens births, helping to bring them into the world.

She loved music, and played the guitar and sang beautifully. During her life, she shared her talents at many events, including her church, Masonic Programs, and nursing homes. She even played on weekends at Shakeys Pizza in Redding, California as a teenager. She also performed at her graduation from nursing school. Her family remembers her music was always in their home.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in many church callings, often holding more than one at a time in the small towns she lived in.

Kathy will be missed by those whose lives she touched, and especially by her family until we meet again.

She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sister, Sherry Knowles Bookman (Geoff, deceased), her brother, Michael Knowles (Lani), her children Kimberly Cantlin (Chuck), Carrie Hatch, Jamie Hatch, and Chad Hatch. She had 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
