Evelyn Y (Young) Harmston

Evelyn (Young) Harmston passed away on July 19, 2023 at the age of 75. She was born on November 21, 1947 to Lillian (Van) Young and Nelson J. Young Sr. in Salem, Oregon. Evelyn married Colin Eugene Harmston on August 27, 1984 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Evelyn loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She was very proud of all of them and all they have accomplished. She looked forward to the get togethers, quick weekend getaways at her daughters' cabin in Fruitland, and dining out with her family. She loved to make crafts and had a special talent in making them. Her passions also included gardening and having a beautiful yard. Evelyn always had her nails done, and her hair done perfect. She was a no-nonsense person, with a great love everyone. Evelyn joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 2016. She loved her missionaries, and her special friends from the ward.

She is survived by her children; Teri (Jim) McElreath, James Tod Harnden, Troy (Kenna) Harmston, 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her husband; Colin Eugene Harmston, parents; Nelson and Lillian Young, grandson; Cailean Scott Harnden, and her 5 sisters and 4 brothers.

Memorial services for Evelyn will be held Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at 12:00pm. Visitation for family and friends will be from 10:45am ~ 11:45am all at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home. Interment will take place in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery. Please wear red to celebrate Evelyn's beautiful life.
