Grant H Herbert, 80 ½ years old passed away peacefully at home with his beautiful wife and his dog Charlie at his side. Grant was the 8th of 11 children born to Don Carlos and Christena Adelia Hardman Herbert on December 2, 1940. On March 3, 1961 He married his beautiful sweetheart, Gail Merrell in the Salt Lake temple. They had a wonderful adventure that spanned more than 60 years, He trained Thoroughbred horses for many years, and they traveled all over the country with their horses and loved every single minute. He contracted Polio at 18 months old and was not expected to make it to adulthood, but he was a fighter and he beat all the obstacles that were placed before him. He met every challenge with a positive attitude and always knew he could do anything he put his mind and heart to. He was a mountain of a man. He was a heavy truck driver for more than 40 years. It took him away from home but he never strayed from the love he had for his family and for the Gospel. He loved music just about as much as he loved life. He had many talents and never stopped, still working in his yard up until a week before his passing. Grant was a great example to so many people, family and so many friends. He took much joy in driving the grand babies around the yard on his golf cart and loved and adored his best bud, his Grandson Alexander who he entertained until the end. He was so proud and supportive of his family and always boasted of the talents and accomplishments of our Mom and especially loved visiting with the great grandchildren.
Grant is survived by his loving wifey #1 Gail, children, Craig (Guadalupe), Kristine (James) Carlstrom, bonus son, Greg (Robin) Rowley, 10 grandchildren, Amber (Alex) Sullivan, Britni (Marc) Spafford, Cassandra Rock, Jim Carlstrom, Alexander Carlstrom, Nena Carlstrom,, Alden Herbert, Kristina Herbert, Samantha Herbert and Vaneta Rowley, 10 great grandchildren And many nieces and nephews. Sister, Linda (Don) Kilgrow and brother Everett Herbert. He is also survived by many of the best friends, neighbors and extended family members.
Preceded in death by his parents, 5 sisters, and 3 brothers and parents in law, Alden and Ellen Merrell who were anxiously awaiting his arrival. It truly has been a beautiful life that he created for his family.
