John Madsen Obituary

John Robert Madsen, age 75 of Roosevelt, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024.

Big John was born John Robert Madsen to Tennys Redick and Chloe Nichols Madsen in Ephraim, Utah. He was the beloved husband of the late Linda Rae Madsen, who passed March 17, 2023.

Dad was very proud of his service in the United States Navy from May of 1967 to September 1970. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, loved the mountains and the desert. He spent most of his life working in the oilfield and was truly a jack of all trades, and master of some.

Dad had about a million acquaintances and quite a few really good friends and if you were lucky enough to be his friend, you got to enjoy his jokes as well.

Big John was an amazing dad and husband. He loved his grand kids so much and they adored him. I hope he knows that his kids and grandkids all looked up to him in this life and we will miss him terribly. I'm sure he is dancing with mom now.

Big John is survived by his children, Misty (Gary) Lankford, Carol Madsen, Johanna (Craig) Smith, and Julia Madsen, 18 grand kids and 17 great grandkids; and his sister Neva Jamison of Ogden, Utah. His dog Wilson is still with us and will be taken care of. Wilson had become his very best companion.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Linda, his son-in-law Charley Coleman Jr., his sister Catherine Zabriskie, and brothers Jess, Evert, and Tom.

A celebration of life for John will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2024 from 1:00pm ~ 3:00pm at the Vernal Elks Lodge (35 North 300 West). Arrangements under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
