Kris Vandewark Obituary

Lucretia (Kris) Vandewark passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on May 27, 2020 at the age of 74.

Kris was born on February 5, 1946 to Frances (Prockter) and Talton Embry Jr. in Dayton Ohio.

Kris was born with a silver spoon in her mouth (that she quickly spit out). She grew up in Miami Florida attending Elementary school through College. From a very young age she had a fervent love for animals but most especially her horses. She was, I think from birth, mischievous, funny, and fun loving to the max and of course youve heard that she was the Coppertone girl. And that is the truth!

It was in Miami that she met and married her husband pilot Chris Sherr. They were blessed with their baby daughter Stacy. However, very early on Chriss plane disappeared during a flight over the ocean never to be found.

Thanks to a lifelong friend Kris packed up Stacy and moved to Steamboat Springs, Colorado. It was there that she met and married Michael Vandewark and Kris gave birth to their son Tyler.

Kris owned Mountain Man Nut and Fruit Co. selling her goodies door to door to customers who looked forward to her visits not just for her wares but to visit with her. Everyone knew the Nut Lady. As she grew older that job became too physical for her but she had grown it strong and was able to sell it and begin her 25 year long career of working for Walmart.

Kris had a dream of owning a piece of property and a place for her horses and that dream came true in Dry Fork, Utah. She made and maintained many friendships throughout her life and treasured each and every one of them. She has loved and cared for people her entire life. If you were lucky to have met Kris you most likely met her with her beautiful smile.

She is survived by Daughter Stacy Sherr, son Tyler (Jennifer) Vandewark, and Grandchildren Beaux Chenault, Jedidiah Vandewark, and Talton Vandewark.

She is preceded in death by Father Talton Embry Jr., Mother Frances Collier and brothers Walter and Talton Embry III.
