Lynn Thomas was born May 25, 1930 in Genola, Utah. He passed away September 16, 2020, in Vernal, Utah.
Lynn was number eight of eleven children. He grew up on a farm where he learned to work hard, and he loved working outdoors all of his life. After graduating from high school, Dad served a two year mission to Norway for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He returned home and left again to serve in the Korean conflict 1953 to 1955. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he met Colleen Mordue and they married January 4, 1956, in Payson, Utah. They were later sealed together for eternity in the Salt Lake temple. Their marriage was blessed with four children, 14 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.
Lynn graduated from BYU with degrees in chemistry and education. He taught math, chemistry, and other sciences, for the Uintah School District, retiring in 1977. After retiring from the school district, he worked for Champion Chemical and Chevron as a chemist, finally retiring for real from Chevron in 1998.
Dad always had a smile on his face and found joy in almost everything. He especially loved his grandchildren, and then his great grandchildren. He loved telling us stories about growing up on the farm and how he spent his younger days. He found joy in serving in his church and was always able to find a scripture for everything. One of his favorite things to do was to remind us that the worth of a soul is greater than anything else on the earth.
Lynn is survived by his wife Colleen, children: Thomas Lee (Suzette) Thomas, Tamala (Justin) Conner, Terrilyn Dockery, Gary Dockery, Troy (Chalynn) Thomas, his brother Douglas Thomas, his sister Peggy Hunt, 14 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and three sisters, and daughter-in-law, Wendy Wardle Thomas.
