Charles Walker Obituary

Our loving husband, father and grandfather Charles Allan Walker, age 76, returned to his Father in Heaven April 22nd, 2018 following a long and courageous battle with Cancer and Coronary Artery Disease.He was born May 5, 1941 to Asael O Walker and Lois Merkley Walker in Duchesne, Utah. His family lived in Mountain Home, Utah at the time. They later moved to Kamas, Utah and then to Vernal where he spent his youth living in the Naples area. He graduated from Uintah High School, joined the National Guard and served active duty in the Army, stationed at Fort Lewis Washington. Prior to leaving for Washington in the fall of 1961 he was married to Flossie Haslem in the Salt Lake City Temple and they have been together for 56 blessed years. They spent the first year of marriage in the beautiful Puget Sound area of Washington and upon his release from active duty moved back to Vernal where their first child was born. Soon thereafter they moved to the Wasatch Front living in Granger and then in Bountiful where six more children were added to his family. In 1992 they moved to Southern Utah living in Hurricane and LaVerkin and finally moved back to Vernal in 2000. He made wonderful and lasting friendships in every place he lived. He was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints holding many callings. He loved most of all his family and was always teasing, playing and challenging them to work hard and to be successful in all they do. He loved the out of doors, fishing, camping trips, rockhounding and anything to do with construction. He will be missed until we meet again.He was preceded in death by his parents an older sister, Lucille and a younger brother Larry Gene.He is survived by his wife Flossie Walker, sons Steven (Jenny) Raleigh NC, Gary (Christine) Lindon UT, Kevin (Junko) Tokyo Japan, Gregory (Adrienne) Lehi UT. Daughters Pamela Loveridge (Gary) Sandy UT, Jennifer Walker, Salt Lake City UT and Stephannie Walker, Winston-Salem NC. Twenty-One Grandchildren and four Great-grandchildren. Brothers Lee Walker (Eula Rae) Provo UT and Earl (Bill) Walker (Elaine) Middleburg FL and Sister Sharon Hallett (Lloyd) Roosevelt UT.Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 11AM at the Ashley 2nd Ward LDS Chapel (3040 North Vernal Avenue). A viewing for family and friends will be held Friday evening from 6-8PM at the Ashley Valley Funeral Home and Saturday 9:45-10:45AM at the chapel. Interment will be in the Rockpoint Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion Post 11. Services are under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
