Rick Riddle Obituary

Rick Ben Riddle, our dear father, grandfather, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle and friend, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on May 7, 2019. He loved his two sons, Ryan Ben Riddle (Alicia) and Rory Lynn Riddle (Tori) with all his heart. Rick was blessed with two precious granddaughters, Katelynn Sierra and Jenna Faith along with three handsome grandsons: Ryder Lynn, Cooper Joe, and Brody Ben.

Rick was born on March 7, 1953 in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Benny J. and Norma Jean Riddle. He grew up in Vernal, Utah and was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church. Rick was active in scouting during his younger years and cherished his friendships within the Vernal scouting community. During Ricks youth, you could find him in the water at Steinaker State Park or in the snow at Grizzly Ridge. He was an avid water and snow skier and had impressive skills. His dad even improvised his water skies so he could come out of the water backwards. It was quite the scene!

Rick married JoAnn Winn shortly after high school and they raised sons Ryan and Rory, who they loved deeply. Rick taught them to appreciate the small things in life and to appreciate the outdoors. They enjoyed fishing, four wheeling, boating, camping and exploring together. Golfing with his sons was always a fun experience. Rick also displayed impressive work ethic. He worked for SF Phosphates for 21 years until retirement. Rick loved to travel and enjoy the Lords creations. He always had his car packed and ready for an impromptu trip. He often just started driving and would sometimes end up in another state. Rick had a sublime sense of humor and was always quick to offer a joke or funny story. He will be greatly missed.

Rick is survived by his two sons, Ryan Ben (Alicia) Riddle, Rory Lynn (Tori) Riddle, parents Benny J. and Norma Jean Riddle, sister Karen (Rory) Hatch, brother Gino Lane Riddle, grandchildren Katelynn, Jenna, Ryder, Cooper, and Brody, nephew Steve (Karyn) Hatch, niece Hailee (Nick) DeMott, nephew Connor (Danny) Hatch and great-nieces and nephews: Presley, Dylan, Cohen, Deacon and Allie.

Rick and his brother-in-law, Rory Hatch, had a special bond and would talk for hours upon end. The family dog, Bart, was always by Ricks side, even to his final moment. Rick spent his last two months on earth with his parents, B.J. and Jean Riddle. Rick and his mother were best friends and spent as much time together as they could. A special thanks to Ricks friend and neighbor, James Farrell, for his many selfless acts of kindness and help that he provided to Rick and his family during his final months.
