Aileen Massey

July 21, 1928 — December 23, 2012

Sunday, December 23, 2012, Aileen Burson Massey, age 84, returned to her Heavenly Father. She was born on July 21, 1928 in Ft. Duchesne, Utah, the seventh of nine children to Weldon Nephi and Irene LaRose Burson. She married Edwin Massey on April 24, 1957 in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

In her youth, Aileen enjoyed riding horses and working alongside her mother in the kitchen. She would assist in sewing for the family and preparing meals. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting and knitting. Aileen's greatest loves in life were her boys. She took exceptional thought and care with her husband, only son and her four grandsons, which in turn gave her much joy and happiness in this life. Aileen could be seen supporting their schooling, hobbies and work endeavors wherever they took them. Some of her greatest memories were traveling to watch Adam at Trap Shooting Tournaments throughout the Nation. Adam, Grayson, Patrick and Aidan can still recall her telling them, "You can do anything you put your mind too." Then she would quickly add, "What can I do to help you achieve it?" Before retiring, Aileen work at the Vernal Care Center as a Dietary Aid, she enjoyed and took great pride in being able to prepare meals for those in need.

Aileen was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin, parents and siblings. She is survived by her son: Adam (Symone) Massey, Grandsons: Grayson James, Adam Patrick, Aidan Keith and Brayton Edwin Massey of Vernal, Utah.

Funeral Services were held December 27, 2012 at the Ashley Valley Funeral Home. The family prayer was offered by Adam L. Massey. Presiding and conducting services, Bishop Earl Burns. Opening song "Abide with Me Tis Eventide," invocation given by Barbara Risbon and Patrick Massey presented the Eulogy. Evan Sharp performed, "If Heaven wasn't so far away." Speaker, Grayson Massey was followed by Symone Massey delivering remarks. Musical number, "Redeemer," by Paul Cardall, was played. Aidan Massey recited a poem and Adam L. Massey was the concluding speaker. Bishop Earl Burns gave the closing remarks. The closing hymn was "Til we meet again."

Pallbearers were: Adam L. Massey, Grayson J. Massey, A. Patrick Massey, Aidan K. Massey, Brayton E. Massey, Skylar Risbon.

Dedication of the grave was performed by Adam L. Massey. Interment was in the Vernal Cemetery under the direction of the Ashley Valley Funeral Home. Compassionate Services were provided by friends of Glines 5th Ward.
