Alvarita (Chavez) Smith

Alvarita "Rita" Smith passed away on April 21, 2021 at the age of 73. Rita was born on December 21, 1947 to Romanita Aragon Chavez and Romelio Chavez in Corona, New Mexico. Rita married W. Lyle Smith Jr. on April 27th in Bloomfield, New Mexico. Rita enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing, traveling with her husband Lyle, and spending time with grandchildren. She also enjoyed planting and tending to the garden. Rita is survived by her daughters Michelle Smith Cornpeach and Melissa Smith; stepson James D. Smith and partner Carmalita Lee; grandchildren: Aubri L. Davis, Chavel Y. Schiller, Jyluer J.L. Schiller; Jonathan Arbagust, Brandon Smith, Jaida Smith, Kaitlin Jaramillo; great-grandchildren: Ari Smith, Maxwell Jaramillo, Phoenix Jaramillo; Sonceray Salines, Bronco Salines, Ava Cornpeach, and Kayleena Salines; brothers Luciano Chavez and Danny Chavez; sisters Grace Warfield, Della Luna, Rosa, Marcella Chavez, Kathy Palomarez; She is preceded in death by her mother Romanita Chavez, father Romelio Chavez, husband W. Lyle Smith Jr., brothers Henry Chavez and Ralph Chavez, sister Josie Alirez and daughter-in-law Myleen Ona Cornpeach. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday 10:00-11:00a.m. at the Mortuary. Interment will take place in New Mexico.
