This prevented her from running for most of her life, and her walking mobility to gradually decreased in later years. She had surgeries of tendon extensions, jaw reposition, thyroid removal due to cancer, and a hip replacement. Those surgeries impacted how she handled and viewed life. She died from cirrhosis likely induced from acetaminophen to manage hip pain.
