Audrey Leah Moran

Audrey Leah Moran, 68, died on March 15, 2026, at her home in Rangely, Colorado. She was born in Wichita, Kansas on April 14, 1957, the 1st child of Dickey Dale Hager and Martha Elaine (Dains) Hager.

Audrey initially lived in Wichita, then Valley Center, and by age 2 in Council Grove, Kansas where she remained until she was 10. After spending 2 years in Aberdeen & Pocatello, Idaho returned to Council Grove. As a child living in Council Grove Audrey enjoyed walking to both sets of grandparents living a few houses away on East Conn Street. At age 14 she moved to north of Neosho Rapids, Kansas, graduating from Hartford High School in 1975. After high school she moved with her family to Emporia, Kansas and attended Emporia State University for 2 years.

In 1980 she moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma near her Great Aunt Jean & Uncle Leon and worked at TRW Reda Pump for a couple of years. In Bartlesville, Audrey met her neighbor and future husband marrying in 1982. Two years later the couple moved to Dewey, Oklahoma. While raising her young children she volunteered many nights at the domestic abuse shelter in Bartlesville. In 1988 the couple moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma, then 2 years later to Houston, Texas. In Houston she attended a paralegal school but didn't pursue that as a career. In 1995 the couple moved to Rangely. Beginning in 2013 Audrey lived predominantly at a 2nd home in Emporia near her parents & relatives for 9 years. There she pursued occasional online employment as a book proofreader and a volunteer hospital greeter.

At birth, Audrey's liver and spleen were initially non-functioning, and she wasn't expected to live. She was born with spastic diplegia, a form of cerebral palsy causing stiffness in the legs. This prevented her from running for most of her life, and her walking mobility to gradually decreased in later years. She had surgeries of tendon extensions, jaw reposition, thyroid removal due to cancer, and a hip replacement. Those surgeries impacted how she handled and viewed life. She died from cirrhosis likely induced from acetaminophen to manage hip pain.

Throughout life she always enjoyed interacting with family and friends. She loved to laugh and talk on the phone. She always enjoyed mentioning trivia about TV shows & movies. Hobbies over the years included swimming, reading, journaling, learning languages on a rudimentary level, raising kids, crossword puzzles, genealogy research, landscape painting, playing cards, electronic games, and watching TV. A lifelong fan of Elvis and his music. Friends and family often sought guidance from her about their life problems. Many times, she freely spoke what she thought about others. Her love of chocolate milk and later Dr. Pepper were part of her character. She participated in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from her teenage years until 2010.

Audrey is survived by her husband of 44 years, Richard "Rick" Robert Moran. Her mother of Emporia. Siblings Douglas (Kim) Hager of Topeka, Kansas; Brett (Cindy) Hager of Rolla, Missouri; Richard (Shannon) Hager of Leadville, Colorado; Vicki Hager of Emporia; and Kendra Hager of Emporia. Children Laura (Joel) Green of Greenbush, Maine; Bobby Moran of Rangely; and Daniel (Casey) Moran of Rangely. Grandchildren: David, Samuel, Aiden, Chance, Dylan, Mark, and Zander. 1 great grandchild, 26 nephews & nieces, 49 great nephews & nieces. She was proceeded in death by her father, sister Cassandra Ann Hager, and niece Sarah Michelle Hager.

Burial will occur at Wilsey Cemetery, Wilsey, Kansas next to her relatives. A celebration of life will occur in Council Grove in April.
