Vernal

Betty Ann Strickland Potter passed away peacefully December 30, 2023 at the age of 86, surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born in Sterling, Colorado on May 7, 1937 to Robert and Lucille Strickland. Her birth was a double blessing as she was the second born of a pair of twins. She attended schools in Haxtun, Colorado. While attending high school, she was a cheerleader and also became Homecoming Queen in her senior year. During her school years, she met the "Love of her Life", Floyd (Ted) Potter. They were married September 4, 1954 in Daily, Colorado. They were married for 68 years. In this marriage, they welcomed their first born child, a daughter Dixie, who was followed four years later by a son Rory. In 1958, they relocated to Vernal, Utah, where Ted worked in the oil fields and Betty was a homemaker and was raising their young family. After a few more years, they welcomed their youngest child a son, Johnny "Rex". Later on Betty went to work as a lunch lady for the Uintah School District. She enjoyed this job for over 40 years. Once the children became adults and left the house, she spent her free time crocheting. She shared her love of crocheting by making blankets for all of her family. In addition to her crocheting, she loved spending time outside. Camping, motorcycle trips and riding her bicycle all over town were some of her greatest pastimes. She was not a gardener, but she loved flowers, especially her Red Geraniums. Above all, she loved her family and making memories with her grandchildren. Betty is survived by her daughter Dixie Lee of Vernal and son Rex(Susan) of Vernal. She is also survived by 6 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren plus many bonus Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Ted, son Rory Potter, parents Robert and Lucille Strickland, brothers Bob and Jim Strickland and son-in-law Rick Lee.
