Boyd Ray Ashby

Boyd Ray Ashby "Unk" passed away on May 28th, 2023 at the age of 79. Boyd was born on September 28, 1943 to Neva Burton Ashby and Harald Ashby in Vernal, Utah. Boyd enjoyed genealogy, gardening, landscaping, farming, and spending time with his nieces, nephews, and friends. He served active duty in the US Army from 1965 to 1967, and worked at the US Embassy in Saigon during the Vietnam War. He proceeded to raise sheep and farm alfalfa in Maeser. He moved to Salt Lake City in 1992, where he resided until his passing. He is survived by his brother, Clyde Ashby, nieces - Ginger McNeill Bowen, Dianna McNeill Murphy, Kimberly Hogan, Shellie Dee Murphy, Sydney Cox, Danci Dee Birt, Chloe Ashby, Sydney Piantes, and Julia Ashby; nephews Curtis Piantes, Clyde Ashby Jr, Danny Demos, Mikel C. Murphy Jr, and Brett Bowen. He is preceded in death by his father, Harald; mother, Neva; and brother, Burt McNeill. Funeral services for Boyd will be held Friday June 2, 2023 at 2:00pm. Visitation for family and friends will be from 12:45pm ~ 1:45pm all at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home. Interment in Rockpoint Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post 11.
