Brant Lee Trogstad, age 59 of Vernal, passed away suddenly from a brain aneurysm on July 7th, 2024. Brant was born January 24, 1965 in Bountiful, Utah. He spent most of his childhood in Colorado before his family settled in the Basin. Brant graduated from Uintah High and later completed his education in electronics engineering from ITT Tech. Brant worked in the oilfield most of his life, but his true calling was in the outdoors. Brant was always up for an adventure, from fishing, hunting, and camping to golf. Brant was always more at home and comfortable when he was outside for whatever reason. Brant would never pass up an opportunity to go fishing, and spent countless hours researching, planning, and preparing for whatever his next fishing trip might be. He loved spending time training and hunting with his Labradors. He found great joy in sharing his love for dogs and made many great friends through this. He loved getting updates on how his puppies grew and progressed. He loved to play cards and to analyze any game. He was always working out strategies even when playing silly card games with the family. He loved to play and to talk about poker. Brant made connections with so many people through the game and could spend literally hours playing with anyone from any walk of life. Brant was glad for the many poker games he was able to play with his dad, siblings, nieces, and nephews. Brant always had a quiet demeanor and was capable of handling any situation he encountered. He took the motto "be prepared" quite literally and would definitely be the guy you would want to have handy if you forgot anything you might need. He always wanted to do what was right and had strong morals and convictions. Brant leaves behind his devastated partner of twenty years: Kim Kay, his mother: Carren Connor, his siblings: Mike and Kelle Trogstad, Brenda and Bob Halbert, and Dawna Malae, nieces, and nephews: Cade and Sierra Childs, Nathan and Summer Martin, Savannah and Chris Clark, Cassie Childs, Oaklee and Cody Riley, Karston Trogstad and Maggie Tailiferro, Justin Halbert, Jordan and Camille Halbert, and Christian Halbert and many great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father: Ron Trogstad. We would like to express our deepest appreciation for the rapid assistance provided by Uintah County Sheriff's Deputies, Vernal Police Officers, Naples Police Officers, Gold Cross Ambulance EMT's, ARMC ER Trauma Team, Classic AirMed, and Intermountain Life Flight. We would also like to thank the entire staff at Saint Mary's Hospital for their absolutely compassionate and kind care of our Brant. His loss is already being felt so deeply. There will be no public services at this time per Brant's request. Arrangements under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
