Brett Alan Shoemaker

September 26, 1969 — June 11, 2020

Brett Alan Shoemaker was born in Fort Collins, Colorado on September 26, 1969, to Aneta (Aycock) and Jay C Shoemaker Jr. Brett was the favorite little brother of DeeDee Shoemaker. Brett loved life, and he had a deep, deep love for people. He had a heart of gold, and he wanted everyone around him to be happy. His sweet Mama was his bestest friend, and he would do anything for her. Brett graduated from Poudre High School, in Fort Collins Colorado, in 1988. He studied a year at BYU Hawai’i before he was called to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, in Tempe Arizona. After his mission he went back to BYU-Hawai’i, and he graduated in Hotel and Restaurant Management. Brett worked for multiple restaurants and a few hotels throughout his career in Fort Collins and the Denver area. Brett was loved by his employees, many have shared that he was the best boss they ever had and that he was the funniest, kindest and most loving person they had ever met, and they were so lucky to work for him! He would give the shirt off his back and had been known to give his shoes and jackets to homeless people. It would break his heart to see someone hurting. Brett loved to cook and bake and share recipes with anyone he could. In fact, his Facebook had more recipes than anything else. We will forever miss him and we do wish that heaven hadn’t called him home on June 11, 2020. Heaven must have needed a hero because that is exactly what he was to his parents and sister and so many other loved ones. We love you forever and a day Brett!
