Carolyn "Dolly" (Hacking) Shiner

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved grandmother, Carolyn "Dolly" Hacking Shiner, who peacefully departed this life on September 18, 2024 at the age of 90. A pillar of strength and joy in our family, she was born and raised in Vernal, Utah, where she touched the lives of everyone around her. Born on June 7, 1934, Dolly was the cherished daughter of Milt Hacking and Mary Isabel Allen Hacking. She was a devoted mother to her three daughters, Dana Giles(Barry), Carol Murray(Dez), and Terri Camp(Howard), who carry on her legacy of love and laughter. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Deloy, grandson Nick Burfitt, son-in-laws Howard Camp and Barry Giles, and her parents and siblings. We all know that they were happily awaiting to welcome her home. She was blessed to share her life with Deloy Shiner, her true love, with whom she built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter. Together, they created a legacy that will be cherished by generations to come. Grandma was adored by her 13 grandchildren, who will always remember her adventurous spirit and infectious sense of humor. Her favorite moments were spent camping up at Ox Park, sharing stories around the campfire, and creating memories with her grandchildren that will last a lifetime. She delighted in the laughter of her 27 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren, each one a shining light in her life. Dolly was known for her infectious laughter, warm hugs, canned tomatoes, and knitted dish clothes. She had a remarkable ability to bring people together, whether through family gatherings, holiday celebrations, or over a cup of coffee. A celebration of Dolly's life will be held at Ashley Valley Funeral Home, where family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and honor her remarkable spirit. We are thankful for the compassionate care she received at the Uintah Care Center. Everyone who provided her care is lovingly appreciated. Funeral services for Dolly will be held Monday, September 23 at 11:00am with a visitation for family and friends will be that morning from 9:45am ~ 10:45am, all at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home. Interment in the Dry Fork Cemetery next to her beloved husband DeLoy Shiner.
