Carolyn McLean Slade, 83, passed away peacefully at home with her loving husband by her side on August 13, 2024, after struggling with multiple health issues. She was born December 13, 1940, in Vernal, Utah, the fourth child and only daughter of Ernest Eugene Levers McLean and Marie Britt. On June 4, 1960, she married her sweetheart, Edward Ben Slade, in Vernal and on September 29, 1964, they were sealed in the Salt Lake City LDS temple. Carolyn was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when she was almost 11 years old. She became a devoted member and served faithfully throughout her life in various callings including Young Women's President, Cubmaster, Primary Chorister and as Relief Society President at the Care Center. Through the ups and downs of life her testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ, never faltered. Next to her testimony of Jesus Christ, her family was the most important thing in her life and her desire was to be home with her children when they were home from school, so she worked as a teachers aid at various schools for learning challenged and disabled children and taught deaf and blind students in their homes for the Uintah School District. Carolyn enjoyed gardening, canning, crafts of all kinds and was well known for her homemade candy and caramel popcorn. She lived an exemplary life of love and service as her door was always open to help those with difficult home lives. She truly followed the example of living like Jesus Christ. She is survived by her husband of 64 years and their children, Teresa Wagner, Stuart Parker (Tarie), Tamy Scott (Robert), Edward Clay (Michelle), Mikel Reynolds (Tawnie), Quintin Ray, Karl Ross (Julie), Clair Brock, 17 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Robert Eugene, Max Arden and Doral Ray; Son Todd Parker, son-in-law Reed Wagner; grandson Matthew Larsen; and great grand-daughter Macy Reynolds. The family is grateful to Canyon Home Health Care & Hospice and all those who have assisted Carolyn these past few weeks. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Maeser 3rd Ward LDS Chapel (2575 North 1500 West). A visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday morning 9:30-10:45AM at the Church. Interment will be in the Rockpoint Cemetery under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
