Carolyn Ellison Walker passed away on April 26, 2026, at the age of 87. Carolyn Ellison Walker was born on May 31, 1938, to Madge Lucile Thatcher and Ralph Edmund Ellison in American Fork, Utah. Carolyn married Merlin R. Walker on August 8, 1957, in the Salt Lake Temple.
Carolyn loved to dance ballet, and she danced with Fireman Frank. She was an Usherette at the local showhouse. She went to work for the Utah Training Center in American Fork when she was in high school. Her and Merlin were high school sweethearts and were married August 8, 1957, in the Salt Lake Temple. They traveled many places while Merlin worked for the Bureau of Public Roads and finally settled in Vernal in 1963. Carolyn went to work for Chevron in Red Wash. She went to work for Western Petroleum & Hot Oil Service in 1971 and worked for there for 34 years. She was a member of the Search & Rescue Searchettes for many years. She loved yard work and shopping. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved teaching gospel doctrine. She took pride in the work she did.
She is survived by her daughters Julie (Gary) Monsen, Nikki (David) Kay. Grandchildren Kesha Scott, Alexis Harrington, Tawny Hardy, Lucas Kay, Jordan Monsen, Taylor Smith, Logan Monsen and 19 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Merlin R. Walker, her parents Ralph & Lucile Ellison, her brother Don Ellison and sister Wilma Weaver.
Funeral Services for Carolyn Walker will be held Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 10:30am at Vernal 1st Ward LDS Chapel (475 West 100 South). Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday from 6:00pm ~ 8:00pm at Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home and Saturday from 9:30am ~ 10:15am at the church. Interment will be in Maeser Fairview Cemetery.
