Carrie Lynette (Slaugh) Murray

Carrie Lynette Slaugh Murray passed away in her sleep on Feb. 11, 2024. She was born Jan. 3, 1957 to Doug & Phillis Slaugh in Rangely, Colorado. Even with it being the 3rd day of January she was the new year's baby. Seven years later she got a baby brother, Travis (Carlene) Slaugh, who she loved to tease. Carrie married Mike Murray Sept. 6, 1974 in Vernal, Utah. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple. They had two children, Libbi (David) Green and Cole (Kassy) Murray all of Vernal. She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she served in many callings. She had a strong testimony of the gospel and loved attending church. Carrie was not afraid of hard work. She would jump in and help with any project big or small. Carrie never met a stranger. She loved talking to anyone and everyone. With her love for people it often made going anywhere with her take three times longer than it should have. Carrie loved sewing, crafting, arranging flowers, and making treats for others. One of her favorite sewing projects was sewing Angel Gowns, where she sewed burial attire for babies that were made from donated wedding dresses. Carrie always spoke her mind and told you what she thought right up until her last days. She told me (Libbi), that I was going straight to hell for moving her! But don't worry she also told me she would meet me there. She must have gotten over it pretty fast because the next day she told me that she knew I was doing the best I could and that she loved me. The past few years her favorite thing was to go for a ride and get ice cream. So, in remembrance of her, please take someone you love out for ice cream. Just sit, laugh, and enjoy your time with your loved ones. Funeral services for Carrie will be held Friday February 16, 2024 at 11:00am at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home. Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday from 6:00pm ~ 8:00pm and Friday 9:45am ~ 10:45am at the mortuary. Interment will be in Vernal Memorial Park under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
