Cregg L Oaks, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully on August 3rd, 2026 surrounded by his loving wife and children.
Cregg was born on June 12, 1947 to Ivan L Oaks and Marion Jean Stacy in Vernal, Utah. Cregg grew up in a loving home and quickly learned to enjoy sports and the outdoors. He graduated from Uintah High School as part of the class of 1966.
During his senior year, he met his sweetheart, Vicki Abegglen, on a blind date. Following graduation, Cregg served his country for four years in the Utah National Guard. Cregg and Vicki were married on October 10, 1968 and sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. They then welcomed five children into the family.
During his life, Cregg served faithfully in many church callings. He especially enjoyed working with the youth, both through church and coaching his sons' sports teams. Cregg worked at Moon Lake Electric in Roosevelt, Utah for forty years. During his tenure, he especially enjoyed pranking his various co-workers in a variety of ways. Many lifelong friendships were created. After retirement, Cregg and Vicki moved to Heber City, Utah, where they have resided for thirteen years. One of Cregg's greatest legacies was service to others. He constantly sought ways to serve his friends, neighbors, and family.
Cregg was preceded in death by his parents and sister Sherma, along with his in-laws Clark and Arva Abegglen. He is survived by his wife Vicki, daughter Toni (Kevin) Negley, son Drew, son Ryan (Lisa), daughter Carrie (Jared) Carlson, daughter Shanna (Tyrel) Denver, 12 grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday August 7, 2026 at the Valley Hills Ward, 521 E 500 N Heber City, Utah 84032. A viewing will be held from 9:15- 10:45 and followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at the Maeser Cemetery in Vernal, Utah at 3 pm.
