Dale Gowen

H. Dale Gowen, age 66, passed away on Sunday April 12, 2015 while working in North Dakota. Dale was born November 4, 1949 in Nocona Texas. He was the oldest of 3 children born to Henry Hampton and Elsie Leanna Dyess Gowen. He graduated from Uintah High School, class of 1967, where he was a state champion wrestler and on the all-state football team. He attended Arizona State on a wrestling scholarship. He met and married the love of his life and best friend Janice Williams on December 31, 1970. They were blessed with four children over the next 8 years.

Dale was a proud and selfless man who worked hard his whole life. He retired from Halliburton where he worked for 34 years. He spent the last 10 years consulting in the oilfield in various places throughout the country. When he passed away, Dale was working for Abraxas Petroleum Corporation.

Dale enjoyed fishing, golfing and taking rides with his little buddy Scooby- sometimes Jan would get invited to come along. He most enjoyed sitting on the porch with a cold one shooting cats and birds.

Dale is survived by his beautiful wife Jan, his children Richard (Alisha) Gowen, Michele (Donnie) Frederick, Nikki (Skylar) Ruud all of Vernal, Russell (Brooke) Gowen of Lander Wyoming and his 11 grandchildren who brought him so much joy- Tevin, Tyler, KaLee, Kutter, Atiya, Jordan, Keira, Heston, Adilyn, Brinlei, and Gerrik. He is also survived by his brother Joe Gowen of Vernal, his sister Brenda (Preston) Bryant, niece Ashley (Keenan) Anderson and in-laws Mavis and Larry Wilson.

He is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Elsie, his Uncle Russell Gowen, father in law Shirl Williams and others that were important to him.

Funeral services were held on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 11AM at the Ashley Valley Funeral Home. A viewing was held Thursday evening 6-8PM at the Ashley Valley Funeral Home and Friday one hour prior to the services. Interment was in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
