Dan McKee

Dan Harold McKEE, age 75, born on April 26, 1938 in Vernal, Utah to Stephen Harold and Melba McMillen McKEE passed away peacefully at his home on March 16, 2014 surrounded by his family.

He married the love of his life, Mary Lou Arnold on January 12, 1957. They were later sealed together for time and eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together they had a daughter, Rakell Lyn McKee (Nash).

Dan served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1964 and was stationed in Italy where he specialized in communications and telegraph. After returning to Utah, he went to work in the oil field and began to build relationships, friendships, and skills that would later help him pursue his American dream. In 1980, he partnered with friend R. C. "Jude" Hacking and the water hauling company, Target Trucking Incorporated was born. His business was his passion, and his employees were his second family.

He loved to hunt, fish, and play, but most of all he loved to farm. Even though it was hard work, the fields were his sanctuary and his tractors were his prized possessions.

Dan was a mentor to some, an inspiration to many, and a friend to all that knew him. He built his life around helping others and was never too buy for a friend in need.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Roy C. McKEE and William E. McKEE; and an unnamed baby daughter.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; daughter, Rakell (Jesse) Nash; and grandchildren: Velci, Jayzon, and Alexis Lou Nash.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 21, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Ashley Second Ward Chapel, 2575 North 1500 West, Vernal, Utah. Viewings will be held Thursday, March 20, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the Ashley Valley Funeral Home, 410 North 800 West, Vernal, Utah and on Friday, March 21, 2014 from 9:30-10:30 A.M. prior to services.
