Danette McLean

Danette McLean, age 73 of Vernal, passed away on Friday, December 5, 2025, at her daughter's home. Danette McLean was born on March 10, 1952. She was the daughter of William Kenneth (Ken) McLean and Reba Eaton. She was raised in Vernal, Utah. In her youth she cared for dairy cows and hogs alongside her father at their maser home. She shared countless memories of her best and lifelong friend Junae Merkley Cook and their many adventures growing up.

Danette married her high school sweetheart Randy K. Allen on March 29, 1969, whom she often told us was the love of her life. They made their home in Jensen, Utah and had two children, Tracey Allen and William K (Bill) Allen. Randy passed in the fall of 1976 leaving Danette to continue raising the two young children, she did later remarry.

Danette loved her children, family, friends and all her beloved pet, - not necessarily in that order. She was fiercely independent and taught by example of work ethics and determination as she often took on projects that were difficult for a woman her size.

She made a living as a journeyman electrician and enjoyed traveling from job to job and meeting new friends along the way.

Mom loved to ride on the back of her son's Harley and never missed an opportunity to go. She was a beautiful crocheter and seamstress and did some beautiful paint work. She loved to ride horses and for quite some time was a member of a riding club.

Danette passed away peacefully at her daughter's home surrounded by her family and enough love to fill a lifetime.

She is survived by her two children, daughter Tracy Allen and son Bill (Emily) Allen along with many grand and great grandchildren, along with some her heart adopted along the way.

She is proceeded in death by her father Ken McLean, mother Reba Eaton and husband Randy K. Allen. She will be greatly missed.

A celebration of life for Danette, will be held Sunday, December 14, 2025, from 11:00am ~ 2:00pm at the Vernal City Hall, Community Room. Arrangements under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
