Daniel Murphy

July 15, 1942 — March 26, 2013

Daniel F. Murphy was born on July 15, 1942 in Winsted, Connecticut to Peter F. and Celia Murphy. He moved to Vernal, Utah in 1967 where he soon married his best friend and companion Maurine Warby on December 26, 1969.

It was not uncommon to see Dan out having coffee with his wife, friends and family. He was never too busy to shoot the breeze with anyone. He was always there to help when needed and always loved to give. He was never judgmental but would always give it to you straight. He always kept a positive attitude through whatever was thrown at him.

Dan loved to build things. It showed in the house he, his wife, and son Nik built with some help from the rest of his family. After many years of hard work, they made this house a home where he cherished having BBQs with his family, friends and dogs, which he absolutely adored. Not to mention where he could show off his skill for smoking meat.

He shared his appreciation for woodworking with his son and built many beautiful and fun pieces of furniture, cabinets, shelves and other things for his family to enjoy. He loved to garden and watch things grow. He planted many trees and bushes around his yard but his favorite was always the lilacs.

He was a hard worker and embraced his time on the road hauling logs, sand and other materials in semi trucks . He worked for companies such as Great Lakes, Quick Sand, 8 Ball, Road Runner, RNI and Brady. He was known on the CB radio as Papa Smurf, which he got from watching the Smurfs with his daughters and later had his license plates personalized with this name. He also kept busy cleaning chimneys around the basin.

He admired the outdoors and spent much time in his earlier years riding horses, fishing with his daughters, and hunting with his son. He enjoyed raising his pigs, but his buffalo was his pride and joy.

We love you very much and know that you and your amazing smile will be missed tremendously!!

Dan is survived by his best friend and wife Maurine Murphy. Children: Casey (Ken) Coats, Corrie (Blake) Rich and Nik (Colette) Murphy. Grandchildren: Kendra, Kiecha, Spencer, Donovan, Tristen, Dylan and Harley. He was always there to help when needed and always loved to give. Great grandchildren: Anthony, Kinsley, Ayden and Lacey. He is preceded in death by his parents Peter and Celia Farezoco.

His services were held Friday, March 26, 2013 at the Ashley Valley Funeral Home. Graveside services were held at Rock Point Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at www.AshleyValleyFuneralHome.com
