David J Haslem passed away on February 13, 2024 at the age of 83. David was born on October 13, 1940 to Jenny Marie Allred and Niles Reno Haslem in Ballard, UT. Dave married Barbara Jean Boyatt on July 4, 1961 in Vernal, UT. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Dave loved his family and a lifelong pursuit of knowledge. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, ice cream, lemon cookies, pecan brittle, and sharing them with anyone and everyone. He loved and adored his wife, five children, twenty-seven grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. He loved his country and served in the United States Air Force for eight years and was a recipient of the Airman of the Year award. He also loved Uintah County and put in countless hours serving in many different capacities. He served on numerous county, city, and state boards such as Planning and Zoning, Board of Adjustments, Transportation, Public Lands, and more. He also worked in several county departments including the Surveyors office, Recorder's office, Assessors office as a licensed appraiser, spearheaded the GIS office, and proudly served as Uintah County Commissioner for eight years. Dave is survived by his wife, Barbara, children Dabra (Brad) Anderson, Jerry (Angie) Haslem, Darrin (Michele) Haslem, Bruce (Tedra) Haslem, and Tiffaney (Mike) Dofelmire. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, brothers Jerry and Norman, sister Norma, and beloved grandson T.J. Haslem. Funeral services for David will be held Saturday February 17, 2024 at 12:00pm at the Ashley 3rd Ward Chapel (236 East 600 South), visitation for family and friends will be held Friday from 6:00pm ~ 8:00pm at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home and Saturday from 10:45am ~ 11:45am at the church. Interment in the Rockpoint Cemetery with Military Honors by the American Legion Post 11 and the Patriot Riders of Utah. Services under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, Dave has requested donations to the LDS Humanitarian Center.
