David Rice

David Lee Rice peacefully passed to his heavenly home in the early hours of November 14, 2025. He was 74 years old.

David was born in 1951 in Merced, California to Carol and Robert Stauffer. He was the oldest child of their family, with Rob, Steven and Kathy born after. Robert died when David was 5 years old and Carol later married Laddie Rice. Together they had more children and became quite a large family.

David grew up in California and married Jean Parrish. Together they had four children; Jamie, Andrea, Valerie and Shaunna. David joined the military and served during the Vietnam War.
After Jean passed away suddenly David was a single father for awhile until he met Lela Rice and they were married in the Boise Temple. Lela brought five more children into the family. Fay, Zane, Tamar, Arabella and Bonnie.

David was a talented go-getter and a hard worker. He was ambitious and had many varied interests which led him to chase his passion for mental Health at a later age and became a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor LCPC. He owned his own practice and helped countless individuals. He was passionate about his work in service to the military community and to anyone in need.

David had a strong testimony and loved to share it. He was valiant in service to God and his fellowman. He served many missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was compassionate and had a big heart.

David was a beloved Father, husband and friend. He was loving, loyal and supportive of all his family. He always gave a kind and listening ear to anyone who needed him. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Lela, all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will Be greatly missed. Until we meet again.

Funeral service for David will be held Friday, November 21, 2025 at 2:00pm at the Ashley 3rd Ward LDS Chapel (235 East 600 South). Visitation for family and friends will be held that afternoon from 12:45am ~ 1:45pm, all at the church. Interment in Vernal Memorial Park with Military Honors by the American Legion Post 11. Services under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
