Deloy Gardiner

Deloy E "Al" Gardiner, our beloved dad, grandpa and friend left this world July 11, 2014 into the arms of his sweetheart.

He was born November 28, 1927 to Carl Gardiner and Zina Dee Palmer Gardiner. He married his sweetheart Lorraine Corless February 9, 1953, they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple June 22, 1961. They were happily married for 59 1/2 years and sealed for time and eternity.

Al was a cowboy in his early days working in Nevada, Browns Park, Book Cliffs and around the Basin. He drove truck for Southams and then retired from Cheveron Oil after working in Red Wash for 25 years.

He was a man of great faith who attended the temple at least once a week. He loved to visit and always had great stories to tell about his life.

Grandpa loved his grandkids and great-grand kids and spent many hours with them. He supported them in sports, shopping, stockshows and family gathering.

Al is survived by four children: Larry "LD" (Joyce) Gardiner, Gay (Bert) Clark, Chris (Joycelyn) Gardiner, and Joe (Cindy) Gardiner; brothers: Wayne Gardiner, Dale (Frost) Gardiner and John Gardiner; sisters: Shirley Morrison and Mary Elizabeth Tillack; grandchildren: Sami, Jennifer, Josh, Nikki, Jake and Amanda; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife Lorraine Gardiner; parents Carl and Zina Dee Gardiner; brothers, Garl Gardiner and Udell (Fat) Gardiner; and sister Deon Ross.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 11 A.M. at the Davis 1st Ward LDS Chapel 3990 South 1500 East. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6~8 P.M. at the Ashley Valley Funeral Home and Wednesday 9:45~10:45 A.M. at the chapel. Burial will be in Rockpoint Cemetery with Military honors provided by the American Legion Post 11 and the Utah National Guard.
