Dezradee Franks

Dezradee Massey Franks-May 24, 1956--August 18, 2025

Dezra was born May 24, 1956 in Provo, Utah to Valda Dez Massey and Donna Moon Massey. She was the third of eight children, and she loved all her siblings and enjoyed growing up in a big family.

Dezra is survived by her two amazing and loving children, Chet Raymond (Tiffany Richardson) Franks and Shayla Rae (Travis Joseph) Lavergne. She is survived by four dear grandchildren, Brodee (Makenli Haws) Franks, McKenzie Franks, Leaira Rae Wilson and Zander Joseph Lavergne and one great grandson, Axeton William Franks. She is also survived by seven siblings: Rahnena (Keith) Caldwell, Diedra Dawn Massey, Laerydin Val Massey, Flayne (Lana Reay) Massey, Shon O. (Tamra Hunting) Massey, Monea (Jeff) Mathews and Rakeyl (Doug) Gilley. Dez was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson Ashton Louis Franks.

Some of Dezzie's earliest memories were of feeding and playing with many farm animals, making holly hock dolls and swimming in the ditch at Grandma Masseys. She loved working in the yard, boating, and crocheting. Dezra graduated from Uintah High School on her birthday in 1974. She worked two part-time jobs during high school then began full-time employment after graduation. She was able to complete two years of college while raising her children as a single parent. She worked for UPS for a total of 26 years. She started as a Delivery Driver then worked as a Center Supervisor over Vernal, Price and Moab and then moved to Salt Lake with UPS, as a Region Employee.

Dezra was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Primary and Scouting organizations.

Funeral services for Dezra will be held Saturday August 23, 2025 at 10:00am at the Vernal 5th Ward LDS Chapel (200 West 250 North). Visitations for family and friends will be held Friday, August 22, 2025, at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and Saturday from 9:00-9:45 a.m. at the Church. Interment will be at the Vernal Memorial Park under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
