Diane Barnes

Diane Elaine Barnes of Vernal, Utah, passed away on January 13, 2026 at the age of 70 years old. Diane was born on December 1, 1955 to Fay Flieger Barnes and Darrell Barnes in Glendale, California.

She was truly a California Girl who loved the warm Beaches and Sunshine! She was very feisty and opinionated and had no problem with speaking her mind! She loved all her fur babies (dogs) she had over her lifetime but most of all she loved her daughter, Kaytee Murray and her grandchildren- Haylee, Orson, Benson, Clay and Cody. They were her whole world and she loved them dearly. She had Special Friends she worked with at Walmart and Special Neighbors and she enjoyed her conversations with her daily customers at her job.

She is survived by her daughter Kaytee Vernal, Utah; brother Tom Barnes, Californa; brother James (Lora) Skerbitz, Oregon; brother Tim (Judy) Skerbitz, Arkansas; sister Becca Pettit, Oklahoma; brother Jon (Shaun) Skerbitz, Indiana; sister Grace Kastel, Utah; sister Priscilla/Eric Overstreet, Arkansas; sister Beth (Alan) Lockhart, Arkansas; brother Jason Skerbitz, Arkansas; grandchildren; Haylee, Orson, Benson, Clay and Cody, Vernal, UT and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Fay Skerbitz and her father, Darrell Barnes; also by her sister, Cheryl Etzkorn and her brother, David Skerbitz.

A Celebration of Life for Diane will be held Sunday, January 25, 2026 at 3:00pm at the Uintah Conference Center, 313 East 200 South Vernal, Utah, in the Split Mountain Room #2. Arrangements under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
