Don Solmonson

Don L Solmonson passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, at the age of 79. Don was born in Roosevelt, Utah, on November 20, 1946, to Alouise Larsen and James Lavern Solomonson. Don had four siblings: Ervin, Ila, Marie, and Ruby. His greatest gift was his family, which began when he married Susan Bastian in 1965. Together, they had four children, Kristie, Marcy, Jerimy, and Steven. Eventually they divorced, and he married Alice Ogden in 1986. The two separated in 2024.

Don worked for Buchanan Feed for 37 years. During this time, he worked in the mill serving customers and delivering grain to dairies. Don was always willing to make emergency deliveries to his customers, who became his good friends over the years. When Buchanan burned down, Don went to work for Delsco Northwest as a flow tester.

Horses and riding were one of Don's passions. He could always be found with his horses, or up the mountain riding a t his favorite place, Gull Lake. He loved to take people riding. He would ride to an aspen tree where he'd have his riding partners carve their initials. He also loved fishing, yardwork, and relaxing outside getting a suntan.

Don is survived by his daughter Marcy (Bill) Pope of Vernal, sons Jerimy (Nissa) Solmonson of Arizona and Steven (Tracy) Solmonson of Arizona; grandchildren Troy Pope, Malory (Jamison) Ericksen, Britnie (Justin) Gale, Brandie (Octavio) Nielsen, Devin (Bella) Solmonson, Kaylene (Jacob) Solmonson, Drake Solmonson, and Brenden Solmonson; great grandchildren, Kaydence (Eddie, Kinley, Lexi, Rylan, Kai, Kix, Axle, Rowen and Nora.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Marie and Ruby, sister-in-law Merrellyn, and his daughter, Krists.

Celebration of Life for Don will be Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at 11:00am-1:00pm at Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home. Internment will be at 1:30 at Roosevelt Memorial Park 400 West
