Donald "Barry" Winter, age 79, returned to his heavenly home on April 2 , 2026. He was surrounded by his loving family till the very end.
Barry was born on June 15, 1946 in Salt Lake City to Helen Charleise Alexander and Donald Frank Winter.
Barry was a proud Army veteran. He served his country in Vietnam from 1966 to 1968.
On August 2, 1969 he married Wilma Bennett. They later divorced in 1993. They had 4 children together. Troy, Buffy, Tracy, and Frankie.
He has always been a hardworking and dedicated man. He had a variety of jobs in his early adulthood. His father owned many businesses. Bartending, cafe cook, bouncer, vending machine repair, jukebox maintenance, concrete work, etc.
He spent 38 years working for Halliburton. He has maintained many relationships from his time there, and was highly regarded.
He met and married the love of his life, Lucinda, on August 11, 1995. He welcomed her two children, Shelby and Wacey, into his life and raised them just like his own. In 1997 they welcomed Lucas into the world to complete their 7 kids.
Barry had a deep love for life's simple joys. He enjoyed camping, four-wheeler riding, and riding motorcycles with his family. He especially loved spending time in the mountains. He and Lucinda loved working in their yard. A natural fixer, Barry always took pride in their home, and could repair just about anything.
He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and found great joy in his many callings. He and Lucinda had a special love for their calling in the Beehive Home. They were so loved by the residents and held that calling for 9 years.
Barry was known for his kind and dependable nature. He was always there for those who needed him. Often described as a "big teddy bear," he had a warm heart and a gentle spirit that he disguised under his gruff exterior.
Barry had experienced much hardship in his early years. He grew into an incredibly resilient man. He broke many cycles of abuse on his own. He always tried to be better for his children.
The highlight of his life was watching his family grow. He loved being a Grandpa, always spoiling them any chance he got. He cherished attending their events. Continually supporting them in all they did.
Barry is survived by his wife, Lucinda, 7 children; Troy (Cresta) Winter, Buffy (Darrin) Halliday, Tracy (Donnie) Collar, Frankie Winter, Shelby (Todd) Kicenski, Wacey (Ivan) Garzon, and Lucas (Rachel) Winter. He deeply adored his 18 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
