Donna Rae Lewis Reynolds was born on February 17, 1925, to Melvin Eugene Lewis and Isabelle Carrie Anderson in Heber City, Utah. She grew up in Heber until one fateful day when she traveled to Vernal, Utah, with her friend Dorine. As she got off the bus, there stood the man who fell instantly in love with her. She married that man, Dean B. Reynolds, on July 19, 1946. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on July 15, 1963, and have been very much in love for 68 years. On March 17, 2014, after 89 years of life, she passed away at home surrounded by her family.
Donna was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in many capacities in the church including primary teacher, Sunday school teacher, librarian, compassionate service leader and young women's secretary. She also served in the Provo and Vernal temples for 12 years. Professionally, she delivered air mail from the Vernal Post Office to the airport; this was quite an arduous job as she had to get the mail delivered to every flight, come rain, snow or shine. She also worked in the County Treasurer's Office for 17 years.
Her hobbies can be seen all around her house from crocheting, knitting, cross stitching, quilting and painting. It also seems that she enjoyed house cleaning very much because you never caught her with a dirty house. In high school, she was a cheerleader with Dorine and Doris; they were known as the 3D's. During her younger years, she was quite the archer, winning many trophies. She loved square dancing with Dean, where she made many life-long friends. Her greatest hobby was her family. Those who were blessed by her spirit will never forget her.
She is survived by her husband Dean B Reynolds, her 3 children, Jeri Helco (John), Bill Reynolds (Bev), and Joyce Gardiner (LD), all of Vernal Utah, 7 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers William and Jack Lewis and sister Maxine Lewis Gertsch, and grandson Darin Paul Helco.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 21, 2014 at 2PM at the Maeser Stake Center (2745 West 1000 North). A viewing was held Thursday evening from 6~8PM and Friday 12:45~1:45PM at the Maeser Stake Center. Interment was in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
