Dorothy Ellen (Pattan) Whitney

Dorothy Ellen (Pattan) Whitney, age 87, passed away on May 19th in Vernal, UT surrounded by family. Dorothy was born in Smith's Ferry, ID on December 4th, 1936, the sixth of seven children to Herman and Muriel (Eaton) Pattan. She graduated Class of 1955 from Cascade High School in Idaho. Dorothy married the love of her life, Ray Earl Whitney, on April 29th, 1955, in Council, ID. Together they had five children: three sons and two daughters. Dorothy was a wonderful homemaker, and loving mother. She supported Ray in his adventure and went wherever it took them. She enjoyed getting together with family, playing games, camping, and working in her flower garden. She believed in God, family, and truthfulness and exemplified these values all her life. She was known for her good humor and the joy she found in small pranks usually resulting in her laughing until she cried. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, husband: Ray, sons: Brandt (Tut), Mark, and Kimberly (Kimmers), brothers: Howard, Clifford, Wayne, and Kenneth (George), sister: Rosie, and great-grandchild: Faith Jenkins. She is survived by her daughters Dani (Tom) Jenkins of Vernal, UT. Barbette (Justin) Dormire of LaVerkin, UT, brother Ray (Geri) Pattan of Emmett, ID, 11 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren, and 7 Great Great Grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends but will remain in their hearts and thoughts always. Funeral services for Dorothy will be held Monday June 3, 2024 at 11:00am at the Mountain Home Idaho Elks Lodge #2267 (325 South 3rd West). Visitation for family and friends will be held that morning from 9:45am ~ 10:45am at the Elks Lodge. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery in Mountain Home, Idaho next to her beloved husband Ray. Services under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
