Edward John Burghardt

Edward John Burghardt, age 62, died May 26, 2021, at his home following a long illness. He worked as a design artist, and was the art director at Galaxy Outdoor Advertising in Salt Lake City. He also worked in advertising in Las Vegas, Nevada. He received recognition at the Gold Awards Competition of the American Advertising Federation District 12. The competition recognized creativity in advertising in a five-state area. He was also a trained EMT with the Uintah County Medical Service. As a teen, he was a 4-H delegate to the Birth Defects Convention sponsored by the March of Dimes. In Junior High he was a member of the Teen Action Program and was the chairman of the March of Dimes Walk-a-Thon. Ed served as a board member of the Uintah Chapter of the National Foundation March of Dimes, which received many regional awards. He was active in other activities such as the Uintah Stake Dance Festival and was part of the Uintah High School production of Camelot. He participated in Boy's State and the Navy JROTC, and received training at the Naval Training Center in San Diego, California. He graduated from High School with honors before attending college. Ed traveled and lived across the western United States. He was fond of his cats and was a prolific poetry writer and collector of fine watches. He will be remembered for his kindness. He is part of a large family, and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his mother, Vadrus Bodily Roberts (Lowell); brother, Marvin Burghardt (Sheila); sisters, Annette Reynolds (Kenneth), Lisa Watkins (Greg), Lydia Eaton (Brent), Laurie Sorensen (James), Barbara Madsen (Robert), Anita Ashmead (Lon), Bonnie Holt (Ron), and Nancy Harrison; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his fathers, Edward Burghardt and Duane Wall; brother, William Burghardt; brother-in-law, Gary Anders; and ten nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, June 1, 2:00 p.m. at the Maeser Cemetery.
