Ellen Jeanette Gordon

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Ellen Jeanette Gordon, who peacefully departed in her sleep on April 2, 2025, due to complications from pneumonia. Ellen was born on June 14, 1943, to Eddie and Ester Shepherd in Southern California. She had two elder brothers, Robert and Kenneth, both of whom predeceased her. In 1963, Ellen married Leon Hamilton, and they were blessed with two sons, Joey and Jason. The family resided in Southern California for several years where Ellen worked as a dental assistant. She greatly enjoyed raising her boys, entertaining, and vacationing with friends. In 1976, the family relocated from California to Vernal. Despite initial doubts from many about her ability to endure Utah's winters, she demonstrated remarkable resilience. On August 7, 1987, Ellen married Stan Gordon, the love of her life. They cherished 31 wonderful years together until Stan's passing. Ellen had a deep affection for her family and friends. She found joy in decorating her home in Dry Fork, preparing delightful meals, painting, and traveling. During winter, she and Stan relished spending time at their second home in St George, where Stan would golf and Ellen would explore second-hand stores for unique treasures. Ellen held several positions in Vernal, including roles at the hospital, Goosebumps, and Deseret, where she met Stan. However, her most cherished job was at the Department of Corrections. She had great fondness for "her" agents and spoke warmly of them even after her retirement. She is survived by her two sons, Joey and Jason Hamilton; stepchildren Stan Gordon Jr., Kristie Curtis, and Alan Gordon; fifteen grandchildren (Natalie, Madison, Jessica, Nathan, Aubrey, Christian, Cameron, Dalan, Jarom, Anna, Adam, Eliza, Ethan, Emma, and Coop); and one great-grandson, Elias as well as Son & Daughter's-In-Law and Many Friends. Ellen was preceded in death by her husband Stan Gordon and her stepson Brian Gordon. Though Ellen may be gone, the cherished memories of her will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. It is comforting to know she rests in God's memory, simply asleep awaiting resurrection. We would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this difficult time. Services for Ellen Gordon will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 11:00am, with a visitation from 9:45 ~ 10:45 prior to the services, all at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home. Private family interment will take place in the Dry Fork Cemetery.
