E. LaJeanne Slaugh passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, November 14, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 1, 1946, in Vernal, Utah, to Marvin and Aretta Jackson. She was one of six children and was raised on the family farms in the Davis and Brush Creek areas.
She met her sweetheart, Tim, one night on Main Street, and from that moment on they were inseparable. They were married on September 29, 1961, and later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on August 20, 1965. They lived in Walla Walla, Washington, for one year during his service with the national guard, before settling in Salt Lake City, Utah.
LaJeanne was a stay-at-home mom for many years and raised five beautiful children: Deanna, Scott, Kim, Jill, and Craig. In 1977, the family moved back to Vernal to live in her childhood home, close to both of their families.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she faithfully served in many callings throughout her life.
She was an amazing seamstress and worked for Mr. S and West End Cleaners until retiring in 2020. She repaired the courthouse flags for many years. Her talents were endless—ceramics, crocheting, sewing, cooking, and creating Raggedy Ann dolls and sock monkeys. She sewed thousands of emblems on letterman jackets and won multiple grand champion awards for the crocheted wedding dresses she made for her Barbies.
She loved all holidays, but Christmas was her favorite. Every year she created an enormous Christmas village with over 2,000 pieces, filling the entire living room. It took days of hard work by her family to complete, and it was a cherished tradition.
She was an avid scrapbooker and never without a camera. She made scrapbooks for each of her children and grandchildren. Every year at the Jackson family reunion, she created three identical scrapbooks—one for herself, one for her baby sister Linda, and one to raffle off.
LaJeanne was a kind and gracious mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She made countless trips to schools to pick up grandchildren who were sick or needed to come home. Her love was constant and unwavering.
She is survived by her children: Deanna (Troy) Hineman, Scott (Renee) Slaugh, Kim Kobernick, Jill (Charles) Nielson, and Craig (Jessica) Slaugh; her sister Marva (Dick) Kelly of California; her brother Brent (Kathy) Jackson; and her sister Linda (Errol) Johnson of Vernal. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of 18 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and two more on the way.
She is preceded in death by her husband Timmy Doyle, her parents, Marvin and Aretta Jackson; her in-laws, Lyle and Ruby Slaugh; and her sisters, Shirley Jackson Smith and Marilyn Jackson McCurry.
