Frank Irie Atwood age 51, father, brother, and friend, died Sunday, February 2, 2014 at a friend's home from heart disease. He was born June 23, 1962 in Vernal, a son of Delmore Ray Atwood.
Frank graduated from Uintah High School and always treasured the time he was in school. He strived to maintain his close friendships with his fellow classmates throughout his life. Before he left school, Frank started working with his dad at M.E. (Salty) Oaks Construction and he continued working there until he was injured. Frank later moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he worked in security for 20 years. Recently he moved back to Vernal to be closer to family and friends and started working for Tired Mule Trucking, which took him to Glendive, Montana.
He loved fishing, hunting, and spending time with him family. He liked watching football and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys. Playing "Texas Hold 'Em" and going to rodeos and bull riding events were among the other things he enjoyed.
He is survived by his brothers, Bill (Donna) Bedell of Salt Lake City; Bruce Ray Atwood of Vernal; children Tiffany Sturdivan, Bryan Dingman, and Tyra Lopez; nieces Amy and Nicole Bedell; and nephew Brandon Smart.
He is preceded in death by his mom, Frances Shirley McCulough; dad, Delmore Ray Atwood; sister Dana Lee Atwood; son, Bryce Dingman.
Frank truly knew the meaning of real friendship, and lived by the Will Rogers adage, "I never met a man I didn't like."
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014 at 11 A.M. at the Davis 4th Ward Chapel, 3990 South 1500 East in Vernal, Utah. A viewing will be held from
9:00-10:45 A.M. prior to the services. Burial will be in Vernal Memorial Park under the direction of the Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate a donation to help cover the cost of the funeral.
