Garth Waldram Leishman passed away peacefully in his Vernal, Utah home on June 28, 2013. He was born April 11, 1937 in Boise, ID to Owen Smith Leishman and Venese Waldram. Garth was the oldest of five children. He grew up working side by side with his parents, brothers, and sister on a dairy farm in Sugar City, ID where he learned the values of work ethic, determination, perseverance, integrity, long suffering, and love. He graduated from Sugar-Salem High, served an LDS mission in Japan, received an associate's degree from Ricks College, and a bachelor's degree in Agronomy and Soil Science from BYU. He married his sweetheart, Carole Goold, in the Manti, UT temple on June 30, 1962. Garth and Carole have 5 sons - Michael (Kassy), Kevin (Jennifer), Gregory (DaNeal), Adam, and David (Amy) - 14 grandchildren, 2 step-grandsons, and 4 great-grandchildren. Garth was an excellent vocalist, orator, and angler. He took great pleasure in his career as a soil scientist, working throughout the state of Utah for more than 36 years. He enjoyed hard work and spent countless hours working on the farm. Being a spiritual man, Garth held many church callings including bishop, instructor, and temple worker; but he was most proud of his calling to be a father. Garth always served those in need and was a true Christian. He is loved by all who associated with him. Garth will be deeply missed.
Garth is preceded in death by his parents, Owen and Venese; brother, Scott; granddaughter, Tracey; and daughter-in-law, Adrienne.
