Gary Caldwell

Gary Lynn Caldwell, passed into eternity at his home in Vernal on Sunday, March 3, 2013, twenty days before his 61st birthday.


He was born March 23, 1952 in Vernal and spent most of his life as a local resident. He was the son of the late Karl J. and the late Lorraine O. Caldwell and is survived by a sister, LaVonne Cable who lives in Madison, Indiana.


Gary was rough around the edges, but underneath it all he could be very compassionate. He had a hearty chuckle, a great smile and a mischievous sense of humor. He liked to hunt and fish in his younger days and enjoyed gardening later in his life. He loved the mountain and spent a couple of seasons camping out as a mountain man in Fruitland. He was very creative and took great pains to craft items for gifts and design improvements to his property. He had earned a brown belt in Karate. He liked history and action movies.


Gary worked a variety of jobs in his lifetime including driving water trucks for the oil field and Terexes for Stauffer Chemical in its beginning .He was co-owner of Bruggeman Roofing. He also did maintenance for the U.S. Forest Service, served as an attendant at a rehabilitation center, and most recently in the produce departments at Davis Jubilee and Walmart.


He was a loving brother and uncle. He will be missed by his nieces; Neppy, Tasia, India and Mercy; his nephew, Christian and all who love him, especially, "Sis".


A private funeral services will be held later this week. Burial will be in the Dry Fork Cemetery under the direction of the Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
