Gary Lee Tournear,78, passed away on May 11,2025 in Vernal, Utah where he had lived for the past 5 years. Gary was born September 2,1946 in Great Bend, Kansas to Irving and Mildred(Asher) Tournear. Gary grew up in Great Bend with 3 brothers. When he was young, he was very athletic enjoying all sports while in school. He loved people, loved telling "tall tales" and making people laugh. He joined the Navy in 1963, serving 4 years during the Vietnam War. He then married Sally Cook from Great Bend Kansas in 1968 and would soon have celebrated their 57th anniversary. He started a family, raising 2 sons and passed onto them his love of sports, love of laughter and love of life. Gary liked an adventure, moving his family to Texas, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah. He loved playing golf, KC Chiefs football, boating, fishing and hunting. He loved lawn and garden work, he was always known for "HIS immaculate" lawn. During his lifetime, he worked for UPS, oilfield work, gold mining and trucking. Survivors include wife, Sally, of the home. Son, Garrett (Marney) Tournear and granddaughter, Kian Tourstone of Vernal Utah. Brother, Ron(Barbara) Tournear of Great Bend, KS. Brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gary and Anna Burke of Great Bend, KS. Brother-in-law and sister-in-law Paul and Pam Clark of Peyton, CO and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents, a son Carl(Chuck) Tournear, Brothers, Larry Tournear and Gail Tournear. Memorial services will be June 6, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Bryant Funeral Home 1425 S Patton Rd. Great Bend, KS officiated by Gary Burke. Military Honors will follow and be presented by United States Navy Honor Guard at the Great Bend Cemetery. Then please come and visit to celebrate Gary's life at First Southern Baptist Church Annex 3301 19th St Great Bend. Arrangements in Vernal under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Fuernal Home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to charity of choice or Parkinsons Foundation.
