Gerald Sunkees

Gerald Lee "Jerry" Sunkees, age 69, passed away on June 9, 2013 in his home in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born on August 11, 1943 to Madeliene Boyce and David Sunkees in Los Angeles, California.

Jerry graduated from University High School in Los Angeles. He was a member of the football team, track team, and swim team. He excelled at swimming and spent two summers as a lifeguard at Santa Monica Beach after he graduated. Jerry attended two years of college at Los Angeles City College, one year of college at "Principia College" in St. Louis, Missouri, and two years of college at Arizona State.

Jerry served in the United States Air Force for four years. He served in Germany, Spain, Portugal, and Lybia. He worked for T.R.W. as an Electronic Technician and became a Government Inspector.

Jerry had a long white beard and loved to be called Santa Clause by children that would come up to him.

Jerry enjoyed swimming, model airplanes, electronic gadgets, fishing, traveling, gardening, and James Bond movies.

Jerry is survived by his brother Jon (Janet) Sunkees of Vernal, Utah; sister Elizabeth Sunkees of Melrose, Massachusetts; nephews: Matthew, Nathan, Andrew, Matt Jr., Nicholas, and Stetsen Kellee; nieces: Candace, Mariel, Alaysha, Kacey, Drew Ann, and Reagan.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents David and Madeliene and his brother Bruce.

Graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at the Rockpoint Cemetery in Vernal, Utah at 11A.M. with military honors provided by the American Legion and the Utah National Guard.
