Gordon B Perry

Gordon B. Perry, age 87 passed away peacefully October 4, 2018 at his residence in Vernal from complications of pneumonia. Gordon was born October 25, 1930 the fourth child of Myron Duncan Perry and Mary Belle Batty Perry. Growing up in Vernal, Gordon quickly became the right hand man to his father as they worked the family farm. He graduated from Uintah High School in 1948 and was soon after called to serve in the Western States Mission for the LDS Church. While there, Gordon quickly became fluent in the Spanish language and continued to enjoy and develop that talent throughout his life. Upon returning from his mission, Gordon proudly served 2 years for his country in the U.S. Army toward the end of the Korean War. Upon returning home he met Lou Jean Anderson while attending Carbon College in Price, Utah. Gordon and Lou Jean were married September 2, 1955 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and became the parents of 6 children. Gordon was a self-employed and respected in the community as a home builder for most of his adult life; Something he enjoyed and took pride in. Gordon is remembered for his wit and humor, his outgoing nature and interest in people, the tender spot in his heart for children, and his love for his friends and family. Gordon is survived by his children: Myron Andy (Lauri) Perry of Cedar City, Linda (Don) of St. George, Gordon Bud (Kris) Perry of Vernal, Raymond (Vickie) Perry of New Braunfels Texas, and Chad (Tracy) Perry of Midland Texas, sisters Donna Shimmin American Fork, Utah and Dorothy Pederson Vernal, Utah and Brother Derrell (Betty) Gilbert Arizona. He is preceded in death by his parents Myron D. Perry and Mary Belle Batty Perry, his sister Miriam Brimhall, his wife, Lou Jean Anderson Perry, his daughter Sandra Leetham, and his great-grandson Madix Oliver Guernsey. Funeral Services will be held Monday October 8, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Rock Point Chapel 2575 N 1500 W, Vernal, Utah. A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6-8PM at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home and Monday 9:45-10:45AM at the chapel.
