Heather Lynn Wright

Heather Lynn Hadlock passed away in a tragic auto accident on Friday, August 28, 2026, along with her husband and son.

Heather was born on March 19, 1974; the first child of Van Hadlock and Shanna Hatch.

She spent most of her childhood in Vernal, Utah and some of her teenage years in Calabasas, California - She graduated from Indian Hills High School as the class valedictorian.

Heather earned a bachelor's degree from Utah State University in Family Sciences and in recent years received a master's degree in social work. She was a Licensed Clinical Social Worker employed at Northeastern Counseling Center. Her influence in the mental health community will be missed.

On November 4, 2006, Heather married Fredrick (Rick) Wright. Together they had a son, Jackson Fredrick Wright. She was a devoted mother to Jackson, Anya, and Stephanie. Her siblings and many others have also been blessed by her "mother heart", compassion, and timely advice.

Heather served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the North Carolina Charlotte Mission. She served faithfully in many other callings in the Church including Relief Society President, Young Women's President, Stake Young Women's Presidency, Primary and others. Perhaps her service as a ministering sister was her hallmark.

Heather spent her life in the service of others. She was especially sensitive to the needs of the sick, lonely, downtrodden, and underserved populations. Her kindness was boundless, and her cooking and baking were the stuff of family legend.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents LeGrande & Billie Hadlock, and Earl & Veda Hatch.

She is survived by:

Parents, Van & Wendy Hadlock, Shanna & Adam Angel.

Son: Ryan Ricks. Daughters: Anya Wright & her daughter Marie, Stephanie Wright Brown & her daughter Olivia.

Siblings: Christopher Hadlock, Jason Hadlock (Jan), Meagan Merrell (Vince), Devan Hadlock (Dillan), Samuel Hadlock; Benjamin Hadlock (Claudia).

And multiple nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Her passing leaves a hole in our hearts, in our family, and in the community. May we all mend by following her example of love, kindness, compassion, and understanding without judgement.

Funeral Service for Heather will be held Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 11:00am at the Vernal Stake Center (850 West 100 North). Visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday, September 2, 2026, from 6:00pm ~ 8:00pm at Ashley Valley Funeral Home and Thursday from 9:30am ~ 10:30am at the church. Interment will be at Vernal Memorial Park.
