Jackie Irene (Girten) Meese

Jackie Meese, 84, passed away February 27, 2022 in Vernal UT at the Landmark Assisted Living facility where she had stayed for the past month. Jackie Irene Girten was born January 28, 1938 in Rifle Colorado to Cleva Portis and Bob Girten. She completed her early schooling in Meeker, Colorado then moved back to the Rifle area to complete high school. She graduated with the class of 1955. She continued her education taking several classes through Colorado Northwestern Community College over the years. In June of 1955 she married Bill Meese. They moved to the Rangely area in 1960. They divorced in 1982. During this time Jackie was the librarian with the Rangely library and later become the Postmaster at the Rangely Post office. In 1989 she married Vic Clement. They divorced in 1999, but still remained good friends. Jackie loved to be out in the hills. She was fascinated with the American Indian way of life. She also enjoyed reading and watching movies. She is proceeded in death by her parents and several aunts and uncles. She is survived by many friends and "adopted family" members. As per her request, she will be cremated. There will be a private celebration of life at a later date this summer.
