James "Jim" Gordon MontgomeryFebruary 24, 1930 ~ September 16, 2017James "Jim" Gordon Montgomery passed away peacefully Saturday, September 16, 2017 in Vernal, Utah. He was 87 years old.Jim was born to John Russell Montgomery and Edith LaVerne Anderson February 24, 1930 in Floriston, California.When Jim was young the family moved to Vernal, where Jim had lived off and on most of his life. Jim married Maxine Kitchen of Tridell, Utah and they later divorced. Together they had six children: James Kent (Linda Slaugh) Montgomery, Diane (David) Morton, Steven Ray (Mary) Montgomery, Russell Scott Montgomery, JoAnn (Bryan) White, and Clay Gordon Montgomery.Jim has 32 grandchildren and 71 great grandchildren.Jim is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Marilynn Childs and Janice Weeks; brother Tom Montgomery; and great grandson Tyler Jay Kiever.He is survived by all of his children and grandchildren; sisters Margie Shea and Judy Kraft; brothers: Jack Montgomery, Terry Montgomery and Dennis Montgomery.Jims favorite scripture was Psalm 46:1-2"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. " Therefore we will not fear.Funeral services will be held Monday, September 18, 2017 at 1PM at the Ashley Valley Funeral Home (410 North 800 West). A visitation will be held Monday 11:45-12:45PM at the funeral home.
