James Dee Gray

James Dee Gray, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, peacefully passed away from natural causes on March 5, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on April 7, 1947, in Vernal, Utah, James lived a life full of adventures and passions that touched the hearts of many. James was the cherished husband of Angela Kidd Gray, with whom he shared a loving marriage since February 14, 2011. Together, they built a life rooted in love and companionship, creating lasting memories for family and friends. James is also survived by his son Brandon Gray, brothers Randy Allen Gray and Gary Lynn Gray, and sister Shelly Davis. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him. Throughout his life, James enjoyed ranching, hunting, and fishing. He had a knack for working with wood and was known for his talent in painting and handyman work. James cherished his time in Wyoming, which he often referred to as his favorite place, and he also lived in Texas and Kansas before returning to his roots in Vernal. James was preceded in death by his beloved sons, Shawn Michael Gray and Bryan Keith Gray, his parents, Melvon and Orva Gray, and his brother Johnny E. Gray. The legacy of love, hard work, and dedication that James leaves behind will be forever remembered by his family and friends. A visitation for family and friends will be held on March 10, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home. Following the visitation, a graveside service will take place at 11:00 AM at Rockpoint Cemetery, where James will be laid to rest.
