James LeRoy Hardman, 83, passed away on March 18, 2024. Son of Guy Edward Hardman and Mildred Peters Smith. Eternal companion to Carolyn Roberts Hardman, father to Gwen Dalton, Scott Hardman, Jerry Hardman, Gayle Birchell, and Bart Hardman. Grandfather to seven grandsons, ten granddaughters, and two great grandsons. James was born on July 4, 1940, in Pleasant Grove, Utah. He graduated Uintah High School in 1958 and shortly after joined the Army National Guard. He married Carolyn Roberts on May 28, 1966. He worked in the oil and gas industry in various capacities such as delivering propane, managing operations, and as a natural gas lease operator. Eventually finished up his career as a professional bs'er selling oil field tools. He is preceded in death by his father Guy Hardman, mother Mildred Peters Smith, stepfather Lynn Smith, mother-in-law Bernice Slaugh Burke, half-brother Dennis Smith, brothers-in-law Johnny Hacking, Mickey Agurrie, and TJ McNeil, niece Tammy McNeil, and daughter-in-law Tracy Fletcher Hardman. Grandpa was deeply beloved by all who knew him and touched the lives of everyone he met. Nobody was a stranger. With his passing, and while he is not with us for a season, our lives have forever been blessed. For nearly 84 years this earthy world was blessed with a beloved son of an Eternal Heavenly Father. He blessed, cared for, served, and befriended everyone around him. He is the rock of his family and would always say "everything is going to be ok". Funeral services will be held Friday, March 22, 2024 at 2:00PM at the Glines 7th Ward LDS Chapel (1270 West 1500 South). A viewing for family and friends will be held Friday, 12:00-1:45PM at the Church. Interment will be in the Vernal Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post 11. Services under the direction of the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home.
