James "Jim" Robert Pratt passed away on May 24, 2026 of age related causes. He was born March 31, 1937 in California to his father and mother, Rose Pratt.
In 1969, During his military service in the Navy he married Margaret Longstaff. Together they had three sons, Eric, Jeff, and a son who had passed away before Eric and Jeff were born. Jim and Margaret divorced in 1972.
Jim moved to Vernal, Utah where he worked in the oil and gas industry until his retirement from Halliburton.
Around this time, Jim began losing his hearing and eyesight. Despite these challenges, he was an active and productive member of Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and General Order of Eastern Star. He was a long term member of Shriners and also a member of the American Legion.
Jim was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. While attending a singles ward, he became more acquainted with Bonnie Keller Beers. They were married June, 2001 in the Vernal Temple.
Jim and Bonnie adored each other and had many happy years together. They served together in the Vernal, Utah Temple. They attended many Lodge events, traveled, and enjoyed dancing together. They shared a love of gardening, evening ATV rides, horses, silkie chickens, and watching the deer in their yard. When they could no longer attend dances, they danced in the light of the moon on their back porch to county music.
Bonnie's family will always be grateful for the love and care Jim gave to her. He treated her like a queen and, with the help of Home Health and Hospice, he gave her 24 hour care. She was dearly loved by him.
After Bonnie's passing, The Home Health and Hospice ladies continued caring for Jim. They were his loved and trusted friends and with him through the end. We owe them a debt of gratitude.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Pratt, parents, siblings; his first wife Margaret Pratt; His oldest son; his son Jeff Pratt; a grandson Kyle Pratt; and Bonnie's great grandsons Rorik Barker and Kyle Mathiesen.
He is survived by his son Eric Pratt (Shelley); his daughter -in- law, Susan Pratt, two granddaughters; and three great grandchildren; Bonnie's children- Bonnie (Bruce) Brandes, Randy (Nancy) Beers, David (Annie) Beers, Sherrie (Hal) Leinweber, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
